The prices. Right here.

Every stump grinder around Bedford and Smith Mountain Lake makes you call for a quote. We think that is silly. Here is how Gone Stumpin' prices a job, in the open, before you ever talk to us.

Stumps from $150

How pricing works

$2 to $6

Per inch of diameter

Measure the stump across at ground level. Price follows size, roughly $2 to $6 per inch depending on the wood and the roots.

$150+

Job minimum

There is a minimum charge per visit, around $100 to $150, because the machine still has to ride out to you. One small stump lands right at the $150 floor.

$150 to $400

Typical single stump

Most backyard stumps we see fall in this band. Big old oaks with wide root flares can run higher, and we will tell you before we start.

Less each

More stumps, better deal

Second, third, and fourth stumps on the same visit cost less per stump. The machine is already there, so clearing the whole yard is the smart play.

What is included

✓

Grind below ground

The stump is ground down below ground level, deep enough to seed, sod, or plant over the spot.

✓

Roots chased

Surface roots radiating from the stump get ground too, so the mower stops bouncing.

✓

Chips raked neat

Standard service is grind-only: the mulch chips stay in the hole, raked level. They make great mulch, and hauling them off is the pricey part nobody warns you about.

✓

Firm price first

You approve the number before the wheel spins. If we find something unexpected underground, we stop and talk, not bill.

One honest note: before any grind, utility lines get marked. Call 811 locates are free, and we build that into scheduling. It protects your yard and our teeth, the grinder's and Adam's.
